PEMBA

Pemba is home to the only live aboard dive operation in Tanzania able to provide the serious diver with rare opportunities to explore Pemba itself and the outlying reef systems not normally visited. The island is hilly, fertile and lushly vegetated and in the days where Arab traders travelled the waters they referred to Pemba as 'al Khuthera' or the Green Island.

The Manta Resort has Tanzania's only underwater bedroom (see images below) - something that should not be missed!

Fundu Lagoon is the epitome of a "bare foot paradise" with a distinct Robinson Crusoe air in a remote and peaceful location - accessible only by boat.

At present, and similar to Mafia, this island is relatively quiet on the visitor front and you will mostly likely find you have the island and it's waters to yourself. However, this is rapidly changing and with the ongoing improvements in infrastructure Pemba is sure to follow in Zanzibar's steps.
